Star Map is an original sculpture made from hand cut etched and coloured stainless steel pieces that are mounted in a mild steel painted frame. It represents a grid square of an unknown galaxy, full of gaseous planets, new born and old nebulas.

Hi there Julie, how astute of you to notice that there will be a huge change in the colours as the light reflects across the surface of this work, the effect created is so hard to describe in words, and its the point that is always missed about my work, and always lost within a photographic image. My work is so hard to represent this way, it can be quite frustrating, but the effect is in my opinion is amazing its for ever changing. I thank you so much for your comments I have some close up images that I will post up here for you to give you a little bit of a better look.

Personally I think it would look great in a smaller version as a clock

hey thanks for the comment Kitten.....you dont need to be an artist to appreciate good looking things you know, and I am really glad you like this piece....its interesting that you have mentioned a clock I have often toyed with the idea of turning some of my designs into time pieces....

Saw your work-interesting.Should see it in three dimension..
and maybe in different light settings.
do you use flash to photograph these?
Or at a long shutter speed?
Was wondering how these will look..in say 'candle/dim light'?

Hey Prashantbhatt thanks for commenting on my work....much appreciated I sometimes use a flash and I sometimes don't, I also try a whole variety of different lights and effect to try to get the best shots but its always a compromise for me unfortunately. The only thing I haven't tried is a long shutter speed so maybe that could be the answer ....thanks for the suggestion
